Book Tour Spotlight and Giveaway - "True Love" by Jude Deveraux

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERJude Deveraux, the bestselling author of unforgettable romance, returns with a breathtaking first book in a fantastic new series—the Nantucket Brides trilogy. Set on the magical Massachusetts island, True Love introduces characters from a new generation of Montgomery-Taggerts, the beloved family from Deveraux’s classic novels.

Just as Alix Madsen is finishing up architectural school, Adelaide Kingsley dies and wills her, for one year, the use of a charming nineteenth-century Nantucket house. The elderly woman’s relationship to the Madsen family is a mystery to the spirited Alix—fresh from a romantic breakup—but for reasons of her own Alix accepts the quirky bequest, in part because it gives her time to plan her best friend’s storybook wedding.

But unseen forces move behind the scenes, creaking Kingsley House’s ancient floorboards. It seems that Adelaide Kingsley had a rather specific task for Alix: to solve the strange disappearance of one of the Kingsley women, Valentina, more than two hundred years ago. If that wasn’t troubling enough, Alix must deal with the arrogant (and extremely good-looking) architect Jared Montgomery, who is living in the property’s guesthouse.

Unbeknown to Alix, Jared has been charged with looking after her while she lives on the island—an easy task for him, considering the undeniable chemistry between the two. But Jared harbors secrets of his own, which, if revealed, may drive a wedge between the pair.

With a glorious Nantucket wedding on the horizon, sparks fly, and the ghosts of the past begin to reveal themselves—some of them literally. Finding their lives inextricably entwined with the turbulent fortunes of their ancestors, Alix and Jared discover that only by righting the wrongs of the past can they hope to be together.

Book Tour - Review and Giveaway "Wishing on Buttercups" by Miralee Ferrell

Wishing on Buttercups by Miralee Ferrell
2nd book in the Love Blossoms in Oregon series
David C. Cook - February 2014

I really enjoyed this story of romance set in the backdrop of the 1880's.   The characters of Beth and Jeffery really pulled me into this book.  They are both hiding secrets from their past, but as they get to know each other, they become friends.  Beth is a artist and Jeffery is a talented writer, yet both of them lack self-confidence in their abilities.  As Beth remembers memories from her past, she begins to unravel things that she needed to know.

This is a good story for anyone who is dealing with low
self-esteem, as it helps you to understand that it's what's on the inside that matters.
The descriptions of the countryside and the town really made me feel like I was there enjoying the beautiful scenery!

I also enjoyed the first book in the "Love Blossoms in Oregon" series, titled "Blowing on Dandelions",  you can read my review here.  Each book can be read as a "stand alone" but, the characters develop if you read them in series order.   If you love Historical Romance, you will really enjoy this book and the entire Series!

More about the book:

Can Love Survive When Secrets Collide?

She’d kept her secrets safely hidden—those from her past, and those in the present. Some things, Beth Roberts knows, a lady simply doesn’t share, even in the 1880’s West. The townspeople would never understand. No one ever has.

Jeffery Tucker, a handsome young writer, has kept his own secrets. He doesn’t have a right to pry into Beth’s affairs but finds himself strangely drawn to her and intrigued by the whiff of mystery surrounding her.

Beth knows that one day someone will unravel the threads of her past. And when two men from her past arrive, the truth might just hurt . . . Beth’s future and her heart.

As shadowy memories surface, Beth sketches the scenes she sees and is shocked by what—and who—her illustrations reveal. Dare she risk her heart again?

Watch for the next books in this series:
"Forget me not" - ( Novella )  March 2014
"Dreaming on Daisies" - October 2014

Book Tour - Review and Giveaway - Blossom Street Brides by Debbie Macomber

Release Date - March 25, 2014
Publisher: Ballantine Books

I'm a huge fan of Debbie Macomber's books, and her Blossom Street series is one my favorites! Blossom Street Brides is the newest book in the Blossom Street series, I loved it!
If you havent read the other books in this series, this book would be fine as a "stand alone" book.

In this book, we meet Lauren, who works near the yarn shop and has waited years for her boyfriend to propose. She has to make a decision on whether to keep seeing him or break up with him...
It was nice visiting again with Bethanne and Max.  They love each other very much but Bethanne's ex-husband keeps interfering!

And, Lydia ( who owns "A Good Yarn" shop ) is puzzled on who is leaving baskets of yarn in public places around town,   ( there is a  note in each basket of yarn for people to work on the scarf for charity and then take it to Lydia's store. )   Lydia is married and has a family life that she enjoys very much.

I enjoyed the story lines of this book.  With each of these ladies having a unique romance in the book, it was very interesting to follow them and see how their stories turned out!

As each story "unravels" you will find the charm and wonderful characters that Debbie Macomber is known for!
5 stars!

She found herself staring at him, unable to pull her gaze away.
Then, to her utter embarrassment, he removed his sunglasses, stared back at her,

Book Tour and Review "A Nantucket Christmas" by Nancy Thayer

I really enjoy romantic Christmas stories,  they really get you in the mood for Christmas!

In "A Nantucket Christmas", we follow the story of    Nicole and  Sebastian as they meet each other later in life,  fall in love and get married.  Nicole moves into Sebastian's home on Nantucket Island and  enjoys getting to know the Community.

Sebastian's daughter, Kennedy ( from his first marriage ) and her husband and son Maddox come to stay with Nicole and Sebastian during the Christmas holidays.  Kennedy is 8 months pregnant, and while she wants to have a nice Christmas..she is not happy that her mother and father are divorced.

One of my favorite characters in this book is a little dog named Snix.  He was left on the island by his previous owners, and he has to wander the streets for food and shelter.  Maddox has always wanted a little dog, but his mother has told him that he cant have one right now....I really liked the way that the author writes the story of Snix, ( also known as Pooh ) he is so cute!
Without giving too much of the story away, I enjoyed the suprise ending and the way that everything turned out!

** I received a ARC copy of this book from the Publisher to review.

Review and Giveaway - Starry Night by Debbie Macomber

Im a big fan of Debbie Macomber, and I really enjoy all of her books!  I've been collecting her books for many years, and some of my favorites include her Christmas books.  So, when I got a chance to read her new book,  I jumped at the chance!  I thought Carrie was very strong and independent, and I liked the way that she went after what she wanted.  She was determined to get ahead in her job, and if that meant going to Alaska and finding a elusive author, she was ready for the challenge!
I enjoyed reading how Carrie and Finn got to know each other, and how she adapts to the Alaska wilderness.  Without giving too much of the story away...this is a book about family, love and Christmas romances...
Debbie Macomber delivers a wonderful setting and enjoyable characters for this new romantic book.  I really enjoyed it!

About the book:
Carrie Slayton, a big-city society-page columnist, longs to write more serious news stories. So her editor hands her a challenge: She can cover any topic she wants, but only if she first scores the paper an interview with Finn Dalton, the notoriously reclusive author.

Living in the remote Alaskan wilderness, Finn has written a mega bestselling memoir about surviving in the wild. But he stubbornly declines to speak to anyone in the press, and no one even knows exactly where he lives.
Digging deep into Finn’s past, Carrie develops a theory on his whereabouts. It is the holidays, but her career is at stake, so she forsakes her family celebrations and flies out to snowy Alaska. When she finally finds Finn, she discovers a man both more charismatic and more stubborn than she even expected. And soon she is torn between pursuing the story of a lifetime and following her heart.
Filled with all the comforts and joys of Christmastime, Starry Night is a delightful novel of finding happiness in the most surprising places.
** I was given a copy of this book for my review, all opinions are mine.

About the Author:  In addition to her bestselling novels, Macomber owns her own tea room, Victorian Rose Tea Room & yarn store, A Good Yarn, named after the shop featured in her popular Blossom Street novels. She and her husband, Wayne, serve on the Guideposts National Advisory Cabinet, and she was recently named World Vision’s international spokesperson for their Knit for Kids charity initiative.
A devoted grandmother, Debbie and her husband Wayne live in Port Orchard, Washington State (the town on which her Cedar Cove novels are based) and winter in Florida.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says.
"I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

Review and Giveaway - "The Wanderer" by Robyn Carr

I really enjoy books by Robyn Carr!  I've been reading the Virgin River series with a friend, ( we trade our thoughts and reviews by email on each of the books in the Virgin River series, we really enjoy them! )   So, I knew that I would **love** this new series also!

Thunder Point Novel #1

April 2013
Mira Books

Nestled on the Oregon coast is a small town of rocky beaches and rugged charm. Locals love the land’s unspoiled beauty. Developers see it as a potential gold mine. When newcomer Hank Cooper learns he’s been left an old friend’s entire beachfront property, he finds himself with a community’s destiny in his hands.
Cooper has never been a man to settle in one place, and Thunder Point was supposed to be just another quick stop. But Cooper finds himself getting involved with the town. And with Sarah Dupre, a woman as complicated as she is beautiful.
With the whole town watching for his next move, Cooper has to choose between his old life and a place full of new possibilities. A place that just might be home.

Read an Excerpt here

My review:  When Cooper arrives in Thunder Point, he's not too sure what to expect. He finds out that a good friend has left him some property including a run down bar / and bait shop, and some wonderful land on the beach.
He feels an obligation toward his friend to fix up the bait shop, and to make it a useful place for the Community to use. The beach and surrounding landscape are very relaxing and Cooper is enjoying his time staying there.
While he is making plans to have the bait shop cleaned up, he meets some very nice folks in the Community including Sarah and her brother, Landon.

Cooper soon finds himself helping Landon with some bullies that have been bothering him. And as Cooper gets to know Sarah, he realizes that she has been through a lot, but she just "might" be ready for a new romantic relationship.......

I really enjoyed getting to know everyone in Thunder Point, and Im looking forward to reading the second book in this series, The Newcomer
