Review: Glad Tidings by Debbie Macomber

Happy Holidays!

I love Holiday Romance stories!  What could be better this time of year?    I have a collection of Debbie Macomber books including lots of her Christmas romance stories!

Glad Tidings has 2 stories in it, and I just finished the first one called "There's Something about Christmas".   I loved it!

There's Something about Christmas
Christmas is a time for…fruitcake. Rookie reporter Emma Collins hates fruitcake; for that matter, she hates Christmas, too. When three Washington State women are finalists in a national fruitcake contest, the story is assigned to her. That's bad enough. It gets worse when she has to fly in a small plane (scary!) with a smart-aleck pilot named Oliver Hamilton (sexy!) and his scruffy dog (cute!). In the end she meets three wise women, falls in love and learns There's Something About Christmas.
Here Comes Trouble
This is also a time for families, for togetherness, for memories. On Christmas Eve, Maryanne and Nolan Adams tell their kids the story they most want to hear—how Mom and Dad met and fell in love. It all started when they were reporters on rival Seattle papers…and next thing you know, Here Comes Trouble!
My thoughts:  Emma works in a newspaper office and is assigned to interview 3 finalists for a national fruitcake contest that live near to her.  Oliver is assigned to be her pilot and when Emma first meets Oliver, she dosent really like him, but as she gets to know him, she finds he is really a caring person.  She is scared to ride in a airplane, but he helps soothe her fears (especially when they ride in a plane that lands on water!)   Emma has been struggling with Christmas since losing her Mom, and she learns some very valuable lessons from the ladies in the fruitcake contest about life and enjoying Christmas.  Will she find her hero in Oliver?
One of my favorite lines from the book
She nodded.  "You truly are my hero.
I knew that, he said confidently.

**This story also includes the 3 fruitcake recipes that were entered in the contest, including a chocolate fruitcake that sounds delicious!

I've started the second story in this book, and looking forward to reading more of it this week.

Are you reading a Christmas book this week?
